Man’s body found in woods at Scots castle as emergency crews race to scene

THE body of a man was found in woods at a castle in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency crews raced to the grounds of Gight Castle, near Methlick, after the alarm was raised about 2.40pm on Friday.

It comes after cops received reports of concern for a person at the scene.

But on arrival, officers made the tragic discovery of the man's body.

An eyewitness said: "There was a large amount of police, ambulance, ambulance support and fire brigade water rescue."

The man's identity has not yet been confirmed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 2.40pm on Friday, 11 September, to a report of a concern for a person at Gight Castle, Methlick, Aberdeenshire.

"The body of a man was found."
