Capital records 4,235 fresh Covid cases

The national Capital recorded 4,235 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total number of persons infected with coronavirus to over 2.18 lakh.

This is the fifth successive day when over 4,000 fresh cases have been recorded in Delhi. Twenty-eight fatalities were recorded in the last 29 hours, pushing the death toll to 4,744, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Delhi health department.

According to the Delhi health department bulletin the active cases tally was 28812 and out of the total number of beds in Covid hospitals, 7874 are vacant.

As per report, 2739 beds in Covid care centres are occupied by persons under quarantine, including travellers who have returned by ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ and bubble flights, it said.

The number of tests done per million, as was 112601 it said. A total of 184748 patients have recovered, migrated or been discharged. The number of COVID-19 containment zones in Delhi has risen to 1488.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, suspected individuals who test negative for COVID-19 in rapid-antigen tests should undergo RT-PCR to rule out the infection.

Rapid-antigen testing requires a prescription and an ICMR form filled by a registered doctor, and a government identity proof, same as that for RT-PCR test. Testing was ramped up June 18 onwards, when Delhi started conducting tests through the faster rapid-antigen methodology.Delhi government has significantly ramped up testing in the past few days.
