Report: Arsenal would accept £22 million from Torino for Lucas Torreira
by Tom ProcterArsenal would reportedly allow Lucas Torreira to leave for Torino if the Italian club agree to pay £22 million.
According to Tuttosport, the Gunners have named their price for the Uruguay international, which is slightly below the reported £26 million it took to sign him from Sampdoria (BBC Sport).
The publication say the Gunners are keen to make it easier for Torino to secure a deal, and will therefore allow for the £22 million to be paid in instalments.
The move is designed to get Torino to pay up, having originally expressed loan interest.
Arsenal are supposedly trying to raise funds through player sales in order to be able to afford the likes of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar.
Emi Martinez and Hector Bellerin are also being linked with moves away from the club, as is defender Sokratis.
TBR’s View – A decent idea from Arsenal
This could be a good move from Arsenal if Torino really do want the player but can’t afford the £22 million in one go.
So long as the club receive lump sums for Martinez and Bellerin, payment in stages for Torreira is probably a decent call.
With the 2020/21 season now underway, it’s important for Arsenal to get the ball moving on player sales so the cash can then be reinvested.
It ultimately hasn’t really worked out for £75,000-a-week star Torreira (Spotrac), and the club should be working overtime with Torino to get him sold.
