Nottingham Forest slap £12m price tag on Burnley target, Celtic and Bournemouth lock horns over Preston ace and Swansea City and Derby battle for Monaco winger

The latest Championship transfer rumours

by

There are just three weeks left in the transfer window.

Whilst some clubs may be happy with their squads, others will likely be still keen to join them - and the opening weekend of Championship games may well have convinced plenty to strengthen.

Here are the latest Championship transfer rumours.

Swans and Rams target winger

Swansea City and Derby County are both eyeing a move for Monaco attacker Samuel Grandsir.

Wales Online report that the Swans are keen to boost their attacking options after losing Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster in the summer.

Grandsir could be available on a season-long loan with the option of turning the move permanent next summer.

Yet Monaco are said to be keen to see the 24-year-old leave on a permanent deal.

Palace set for Benrahma talks

Sky Sports report that Crystal Palace are interested in signing Said Benraham from Brentford.

The attacker shone in the Championship last season and Brentford are willing to sell provided their valuation of £25m is met.

Benrahma netted 17 goals and provided 10 assists, leading to interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, Leeds, West Ham and Aston Villa.

Palace have already shopped in the Championship in this window, bringing in Eberechi Eze from QPR.

Potter opens up on Swans target

Graham Potter has spoken about the future of Brighton striker Viktor Gyokeres amid rumours over a possible move to Swansea City.

The Seagulls forward has been linked with a move to the Liberty Stadium on a potential loan deal, as the Swans look to replace Rhian Brewster who has returned to parent club Liverpool.

"He has been away for the last week so that has disrupted things a little bit but we have been impressed with him," Potter told Sussex Live.

"He is probably a different type of forward to what we have – big, strong, runs in behind, can finish as well.

"We want to take a real look at him and his qualities before we make any decisions on his next step. He is one we are really interested in."

Nottingham Forest want £12m for Worrall

Burnley must fork out £12m if they are to sign Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest, the Daily Mail has claimed.

Worrall, a product of the Forest academy, has been the subject of much transfer interest in this window, but the Clarets appear to be leading the race.

He produced a number of top performances for Sabri Lamouchi last term, however with Matty Cash having already left for Aston Villa, it would leave Forest's defence a little light.

It is thought Forest want to keep hold of the 23-year-old defender, however a bid of around £12m could force the Midlands outfit's hand.

Celtic and Bournemouth want Davies

Both Celtic and Bournemouth are embroiled in a battle to sign Preston defender Ben Davies.

The Daily Record claim that Celtic are interested in recruiting the 25-year-old defender this summer, however the Cherries have already seen a £5m bid rejected, according to The Mirror.

Preston are keen to keep hold of Davies, it is thought, but with a growing number of clubs thought to be interested, it could spark a bidding war.

Preston boss Alex Neil insisted earlier this month he is in no rush to see his star man leave anytime soon.

He said: “If they were coming to buy him? Yeah, well if they’ve got £10 million then maybe.

“Peter (Risdale) would probably tell you £20 million. Absolutely not (been any contact) as far as I’m aware."

Preston hit back at rumours

Preston have hit back at clubs ‘attempting to do their bidding through the press and social media’.

Daniel Johnson missed Preston’s defeat to Swansea at the weekend after rumours linked him with a move to Rangers.

Meanwhile, centre-back Ben Davies has been linked with Bournemouth.

In a statement posted by former Cardiff City chief Peter Risdale, North End said they had grown tired of rumour-mongering.

"Ordinarily we don't comment on transfer speculation, however, the last few days have been frustrating as it would appear that a number of clubs are attempting to do their bidding through the press and social media," the statement said.

"Some of the so called 'informed' comments have claimed that transfer fees have been agreed between us and at least one other club for named players.

"At the time of writing this statement no bids for any of our players have been agreed. Any approaches that have been made have been underwhelming in both quantum and payment timescales.

"We have always accepted that buying and selling players is a normal part of our business, but at the right price. Some of the so called 'informed' comments on social media are not only unhelpful, but frankly not true.

"We attempt to conduct our transfer dealings club to club and only announce a deal once all parties have agreed. We have made bids for a number of players this summer but as deals were not finalised we have refrained from confirming the identity of potential targets. This will remain to be our approach.

"If and when there is anything definitive to say for either incomings or sales we will make a factual statement at that time."
