As previously reported, this is the eighth consecutive season for "Sunday Night Football" to be headlined by Underwood. The show open will feature an inside at look at her new recording of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” in a Nashville, Tennessee, studio.
Working within social-distancing parameters, the 2020 "Sunday Night Football" show open was uniquely produced without extras in a studio or stadium, while also celebrating the millions who watch the games, according to a news release.
For the first time, the "Sunday Night Football" show open will feature user-generated content from fans showcasing their team spirit. Cameos from some of the NFL’s biggest stars, also recorded remotely, will be highlighted.
The first "Sunday Night Football" game of the season will kick off 7:20 tonight and feature the Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams. As a pregame warm-up, "Football Night in America" will air at 6 p.m. on NBC.
"Sunday Night Football" has been primetime television’s No. 1 program for an unprecedented nine consecutive years.
