Undertrial prisoner dies in hospital in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: An under trial prisoner died while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital late on Sunday night.

Sambu Komuraiah (45), a native of Ippalapalli, Shankarapatnam mandal, was accused of stealing chairs and other material from a chicken centre in Thadikal of Shankarapatnam mandal recently.

On September 10, Shankarapatnam police produced him in the Huzurabad court, and the judge sent him to judicial custody.

According to jail authorities, Komuraiah, who was an alcoholic, used to climb windows and behave abnormally because of withdrawal syndromes. He was admitted to jail hospital for two days. When condition turned serious on Sunday night, jail officials shifted him to the district headquarters hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
