Adam Idah scolded by Norwich boss before scoring winning goal

Adam Idah was on the receiving end of a "proper outburst" from Norwich boss Daniel Farke before scoring the matchwinner for his club against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Daniel Farke today revealed Idah's goalscoring heroics at the weekend came after a severe scolding during a training session last week.

The 19-year-old striker, who recently made his debut for the Republic of Ireland, found the net late on in the Canaries' opening game of the season.

In an interview posted to Norwich's YouTube channel, Farke admitted he had some strong words for Idah in the build-up to the game.

"Adam will be a bit in the spotlight and I'm delighted for him. I'm allowed to tell you a secret, I had a proper outburst with Adam Idah during this week because I didn't have the feeling he was focused on us.

"It was of course difficult after he was in the spotlight because he had his debut for Ireland and during the training I had a proper outburst with him and asked him for more concentration and more discipline.

"And after the training, I spoke with Michael McGovern because as an experienced player, he always has influence on the young lads and also after the game he said, 'Listen, coach, I spoke with Adam and spoke with him that he has to pay back your trust that you still choose him today although he wasn't great in training this week'.

"He had to pay back and he did, so big, big compliments, especially to the fringe players."

Idah will be hoping his goal can lead to a more sustained run in the team as he looks to establish himself as Norwich and Ireland's first-choice striker.
