Karnataka: CBI report details on 5 police officers to be prosecuted in IMA scam
While the state government has accorded sanction to prosecute 5 police officers in the state for their alleged role in the IMA Ponzi scheme, here are the details of CBI report that led to these orders.

Bengaluru: Times Now has accessed the order copies that sanctions prosecution of five police officers including two senior IPS officers. The five officers are Hemant Nimbalkar, the then IGP OF CID, Ajay Hilori, then DCP west, DSP EB Sridhar, Inspector M Ramesh and Sub-inspector Gowrishankar.
Here are the details mentioned by the CBI in its report that has led to the government sanctioning orders for prosecution against these officers:
Ajay Hilori
- Ajay Hilori, the then DCP, East, Bengaluru demanded and accepted illegal gratification on various occasions from Shri Mohammed Mansoor Khan through Shri Nijamuddin, Director and Operational Manager, IMA for favouring IMA by delaying the report to RBI and for not taking action against IMA on various complaints in connivance with other public servants.
- Ajay Hilori also accepted furniture and interior items for his house from IMA when the matter was pending with him by misusing his official position.
Hemanth Nimbalkar
- Hemath Nimbalkar as Head of CID/Economic Offence Wing supervised the inquiry & asserted that the IMA and its group entities are not financial establishments and closed the enquiry.
- He reiterated his stand that IMA and its group entities did not violate any provisions of the KPID Act & thus showed undue interest in order to favour Mohammed Mansoor Khan and IMA.
- He wanted to protect the activities of Shri Mohammed Mansoor Khan and save him from any action by Government under the KPID Act.
- Further, he also tried to influence other public servants.
- Hemant Nimbalkar, in turn, received favours from Shri Mohammed Mansoor.
DSP EN Sridhar
- The CBI report against EB Sridhar, the then Deputy Superintendent of Police CID, Economic Offences Division states that he conducted an improper inquiry in order to extend favours to Mohammed Mansoor Khan. It also adds that he did not collect relevant documents and perused the case without assessing the business activities of IMA and without assessing the modus operandi adopted by the IMA.
M Ramesh
- The CBI report talks of how Ramesh the then Inspector of Police, Commercial Street Police Station, Bengaluru, demanded and accepted illegal gratification on various occasions from Mohammed Mansoor Khan through Shri Vaseem for favouring IMA for not taking action against IMA on various complaints. They have even attached evidence to the same.
Gowrishankar
- The CBI report states that Gowrishankar. the then Sub - Inspector of Police. Commercial Street Police Station, Bengaluru has also demanded and accepted illegal gratification on various occasions from Mohammed Mansoor Khan through Shri Vaseem for favouring IMA for not taking action against IMA on various complaints.
