Merry to see full recovery by year-end 2020
by Ninelu Tu, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMESHeadset and acoustic device supplier Merry Electronics has seen sales improving, likely to bottom out for a full recovery in the latter half of the year, according to company chairman Lu-lee Liao.
In addition to booming demand for IT products supporting remote work and study, the increasing stay-at-home activities are also spurring demand for TWS earbuds, pushing sales at Merry, Liao said.
Merry's shipments of gaming earbuds have continued gaining momentum in third-quarter 2020, having seen such shipments nearly double sequentially in the second quarter, according to industry observers.
Shipments of speaker products will contribute more to the company's revenues in the second half of the year as clients in the US have started replenishing their inventories, said the sources.
Merry said it has set up factories in China, Thailand, Vietnam, and therefore, Merry can optimize the strength of each factory to quicken services to clients in differential regions.
Merry posted revenues of NT2.66 million (US$90.86 million) for August, up 6.7% sequentially but down 25.87% on year. Year-to-date revenues totaled NT$16.8 billion, decreasing 30.7% from a year earlier.
