Source: Apple
The entry-level iPad has been an important product for Apple for years now, as it brings new customers to the lineup, and provides a low-cost option for people wanting a reliable tablet. The new iPad (2020) was just announced making that entry-level model more appealing. Here's everything you need to know about the new iPad (2020).
The short list
- Release date: Order today, and avaiable September 18
- Price: $329 — $299 for education customers
- New features: A12 Bionic processor
- Colors: Space Gray, Silver, Gold
A new brain — A12 Bionic chip
The new iPad now sports an A12 Bionic chip, making it a pretty decent upgrade over the 7th generation iPad it's replacing. The chip should keep the entry-level iPad super speedy and able to keep up with most work you'll want to do.
According to Apple, the A12 Bionix will make the iPad two times faster than the top-selling Windows laptop, three times faster than the top-selling Android tablet, and six times faster than the top-selling Chromebook.

Same form factor
Source: Apple
Well, there was some speculation about the new iPad (2020) having a slightly larger screen, but that didn't happen.
The iPad (2020) is the same form factor as its predecessor. That means it still has a 10.2-inch display and works with the first-generation Apple Pencil and works with the Smart Keyboard and other Apple accessories.
Colors
The new iPad (2020) is available in three colors. The standard Apple Space Gray and Silver that most Apple hardware comes in is present in the iPad (2020) line up, but this year Apple did decide to include a Gold color.
Storage
There are two different storage sizes for the iPad (2020) —32GB and 128GB — with only a $100 difference between them.
Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular
As always you can get the iPad (2020) with Wi-Fi only, or in a version that supports both Wi-Fi and Cellular. The starting price for the Wi-Fi + Cellular is $459.
Price
The iPad (2020) is starting at $329 for the 32GB model, making the entry-level iPad quite affordable. It's even more affordable for education customers at $299.
If you want to upgrade to the 128GB model, you'll be paying $429 for the increase in internal storage.
Release date
You can order the new iPad (2020) right now and it should be available this Friday, September 18, 2020.
