Glasgow’s Rogano restaurant bosses deny viral rumour oyster bar has closed for good with 2021 reopening plan

BOSSES of an iconic Glasgow restaurant have been forced to confirm they are not shutting down after rumours the business is up for sale.

Rogano, based in Royal Exchange Square, was hailed a city landmark as a viral social media post claimed it was the "end of an era" and the oyster bar had "closed for good".

Locals were already mourning the "incredibly sad loss of the beloved restaurant, which first opened in 1935.

But Rogano chiefs have now quashed the closure rumours and said they will reopen in 2021.

Lynnet Leisure, which operates several bars and restaurants across the city, said the oyster bar will reopen after refurbishment.

Lynn Mortimer, MD of Lynnet Leisure told Bauer: “Like a number of restaurant groups we are currently going through a period of restructuring as a result of the devastating impact Covid 19 has had on business.

"Following completion of that programme it out our intent that Rogano, following a refurbishment, will open again at some point in 2021. We can confirm the restaurant is not for sale”

In other Glasgow news, a tattoo parlour have been praised for their brutal response to an anti-masker who claimed coronavirus was "a hoax".

Staff at the Archangel 1608 Tattoo Studio refused to ink the punter after claiming the virus and wearing masks was "a con".

The punter told the shop to "open you're eyes" and "don't be a sheep" as they claimed it was a "hoax" to "control us all ans sell a vaccine that ll be used to track us aww".
