The body of a militant was recovered from a stream late last night after four days of searches in Check Kawoosa village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A senior police officer told news agency GNS that the body was recovered from a Nala (Waterbody) in which the militant had jumped after suffering a bullet injury in his neck during a brief gunfight on September 07.

The encounter had ensued after a joint team of police, Army’s 02 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of militants.

Since then the searches were continuing and the body was recovered late last night.

As per the sources, the slain militant has been identified as Aqib Lone, a resident of Aglar, Pulwama and is believed to be affiliated with JeM.
