NOT LOTTO TIME LEFT
Mystery Scots £58m EuroMillions winner has until MIDNIGHT to claim jackpot prize or lose it
by Abbi GartonA MYSTERY Scot has just the FIVE hours until midnight to claim their £58million lotto jackpot.
The lucky punter from South Ayrshire scooped the EuroMillions prize in the March 17 draw.
But although a claim was reported in April, officials confirmed they have still not validated a winning ticket.
And with players having just 180 days to come forward, time runs out tonight to pocket the £57,869,670 prize.
If it remains unclaimed, the sum will be added to National Lottery Project charity funds.
The winning numbers for the draw were 5, 7, 8, 16 and 20 with Lucky Stars 2 and 12.
A spokesman for lotto operator Camelot said: “As with all major prizes, the claim goes through a rigorous validation process to ensure the prize can be paid under our game rules.
“If a valid claim is not received, the prize money is passed to good causes.”
The jackpot is one of 11 which have not been claimed, the National Lottery website says.
But the sum is the largest of the lot, with the next highest amount sitting at £1million.
Once the ticket has been validated and the money paid out, it is up to the winner to decide whether to go public or not.
The odds of choosing the right numbers in the twice-weekly draw have been estimated at one in 140million.
Scotland’s biggest EuroMillions winners were Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in North Ayrshire, who scooped £161million in 2011.
