Jagan Govt Hikes Tax On Cooking Gas
by GulteDeskAP CM Jagan led YSRCP government has hiked the value added tax (VAT) on cooking gas by ten percent. Earlier the tax was 14.5 and with the hiked tax, it stands at 24.5 per cent now. The AP government cited lack of revenue behind this hike.
This hike comes exactly a month after the Jagan government increased the tax on petrol (to 31 per cent plus tax) and diesel (to 22.25 per cent plus tax). Despite the lockdown and severe financial stress, Jagan has been continuously launching welfare schemes but the treasury doesn’t have enough money. Accordingly the tax was hiked.
Rythu Bharosa, Vahana Mithra, Jagananna Vidya Deevena, Jaganna Chedodu, Amma Vodi and Nadu Nedu are some the popular schemes, Jagan initiated this year. For the month April 2020, AP reported a revenue of Rs 1323 crore against Rs 4480 crore previous. The revenue was highly impacted with the lockdown and the similar trend was seen in the months May, June, July and August.
But this is a bad news for the people.
