Chennai: With the world still reeling under Covid-19 and governments fast-tracking a vaccine, a shocking expose by a Chinese virologist takes us aback.

The whistleblower virologist Dr Li Meng in a British talk show "Loose Women" made a shocking claim that the virus was created in the virology lab in Wuhan when it was widely believed the town's wet market was the cluster zone.

China immediately drew ire at the beginning of the pandemic from those labelled as 'conservatives' and 'xenophobics', now Li Meng's claim leverages their narrative pushing China into the defensive.

Dr Meng said that she spotted a cover-up operation initiated by the ruling Communist Party of China government using the wetmarket as a cloak.

Furthering her startling claim she said that the virus' genome sequence resembles a human finger print which is reasonably understandable even to those uninitiated with Biology.

Accusing the WHO too as a party to the Chinese misadventure she claimed that the World Health organisation didn't heed to the warnings and they turned a blind eye.

With Meng fleeing to the US, her records are being expunged by the Chinese officials and she claims a smear campaign has been taken up in the Chinese media at the behest of the government.
