Arsenal fans react as club is linked with move for Mounir Chouiar
by Tom ProcterArsenal fans have been reacting to reports of transfer interest in Dijon youngster Mounir Chouiar.
L’Equipe have claimed this weekend that the Gunners are tussling with Leeds United and Wolverhampton over the 21-year-old, who was left out against Brest amid the speculation.
Chouiar has only been with Dijon since last year, but caught the eye with some vibrant performances in Ligue 1 in 2019/20.
He contributed six goals in all competitions for the club, whom he joined from Ligue 2 side Lens.
Arsenal’s interest comes after the Gunners swept aside Fulham in their first Premier League fixture of 2020/21.
Mikel Arteta set up with a front three of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and new signing Willian, who wowed with assists for all three goals.
Willian now being at the Emirates Stadium means Arsenal are pretty well stacked in the wide areas.
As well as Aubameyang and Willian, there is also Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson at Arteta’s disposal.
Highly-rated Chouiar is mainly a left-winger, although he is versatile enough to feature as a number 10.
Arsenal fans had a largely positive reaction to the links on social media, with some very keen to see him sign and others questioning whether there would be any need:
