Chennai: The question paper pattern was familiar for Biology and Physics, but different for Chemistry, aspirants said. “The Physics portion was difficult so I only attempted only those questions that I knew to avoid negative marking. Chemistry was moderate but the questions were different from what we have been preparing so far. Biology was quite easy,” said V Dhanvanth, a NEET aspirant from Theni. Dhanvanth added that the management of allocation of exam centres and safety precautions could have been done in a more efficient manner for the examinations to be conducted smoothly.

However, students from government schools said that the syllabus in their schools needs to be updated and the pandemic also disrupted the system of NEET coaching centres. “The questions were easy, quite similar to the Class 12 syllabus of CBSE and NCERT. Given the time we got to prepare, Biology and Chemistry turned out to be very easy,” said Varshini Srinivasan, a Chennai aspirant. Another student said that the bilingual structure of the paper was to help students but the government syllabus needs to be updated. “The exam was easier for my friends who have studied in CBSE schools but I found it difficult to understand the questions, if not for the bilingual structure,” said the aspirant.
