Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? winner Donald Fear has admitted that he planned to keep his epic win a secret from his wife Deb.

The teacher, 57, who became the sixth winner of the ITV quiz show and first in 14-years, revealed that he wanted to keep tight-lipped about scooping the million pound prize money during a chat with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Monday's This Morning.

During the interview, Phil asked Donald on who he informed of the life-changing moment, after appearing on the ITV gameshow, and the quiz superstar told that he was forced to share with news with his partner due to "joint decisions."

Donald shared: "I didn’t phone anyone from the studio, I tried to keep it a secret apart from myself."

He then added: "But I had to tell my wife as so many joint decisions [had to be made]."

Donald also revealed that after breaking the news to wife of 33 years Deb, the pair headed off on a staycation the very next day.

He told: "We went away on holiday the next day. We were supposed to be driving to Spain but covid took that so we found a caravan trip to Whitley bay."

Donald spoke to Holly and Phil from Haberdashers' Adams grammar school in Newport, Shropshire - where he teaches.

Following his win he plans to remain at his teaching post until December and he is then going to retire two years earlier than he originally planned.

Donald's win comes after his brother Davyth appeared on the show last year and gave away a chunk of his prize pot.

After passing up the million pound question when he didn't know the answer, Davyth won a still impressive £500,000 - 40 % of which he gave away to his family, making sure his nieces and nephews were generously treated.

Host Jeremy Clarkson said he was in total 'awe' of Donald during his time in the hot-seat.

"It's like sitting next to the Internet" because his win was so smooth and he seemed so knowledgeable," he said.
