Postal vote applications open today for Qld election

by

Queenslanders can now apply to have their say via postal voting ahead of the state election on October 31.

Postal voting options are expected to be a popular option this year, after hundreds of thousands of people made their decision by mail in the local elections back in March.

The postal vote application has now opened earlier than expected, so that Queenslanders have more time to plan how they will have their say.

You can apply from today, through to October 16.

Those who want to take advantage of postal voting can now apply on the ECQ website, or by phoning into the ECQ call centre from today.

While you can now apply to do the postal vote, the Electoral Commission says ballot papers won’t be mailed out until after candidate nominations close in mid-October.

The Electoral Commission has also reminded voters that you have to apply again for a postal vote, even if you did a postal vote in the local elections in March.
