Luis Suarez sent Barcelona warning amid Juventus transfer interest

by

Barcelona could force Luis Suarez to watch the entire season ‘from the stands’ if he doesn’t leave the club this summer, according to reports.

New Barca boss Ronald Koeman has deemed the Uruguayan surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.

Suarez still has one-year left on his deal with the La Liga giants and is reportedly unwilling to voluntarily terminate his contract.

Since returning to pre-season training, it is claimed that Suarez has remained entirely committed to the cause and would stay with the club should Koeman complete a dramatic U-turn.

At this point, that looks unlikely, with Koeman leaving the former Liverpool star out of his squad for their warm-up game with Gimnastic.

Sport report that Suarez has been training away from his teammates and watched their pre-season clash from home.

For much of the window, he has been extensively linked with a move to Juventus, with reports from Italy claiming he is close to completing a move to Turin.

Liverpool got their title defence off to a shaky start as they edged out a seven-goal thriller against Leeds.

However, Sport suggest that the deal is not that advanced and Suarez has now ‘frozen’ talks to properly assess his options.

Atletico Madrid have also emerged as a potential destination, but he looks set tol take his time and only accept a proposal when he is fully convinced.

Should he stay with Barca however, it is mooted that Koeman will continue to snub the club’s third highest scorer in their history, instead forcing him to watch the upcoming campaign from the stands.

Suarez has been outspoken with the way the club have handled the situation regarding his future, citing a lack of communication.

He said: “There has been talk of some names that the president suggested, changes that could be made, but nobody has told me that they want to get rid of me.

"If that is what the club wants it would be nice if the director responsible for these decisions spoke directly with me. It’s better than leaking if I’m one of the players they want to leave. We’ll see what happens.”
