Altek developing disposable endoscopes

Altek has begun small-volume shipments for duodenoscopes and is poised to ship bronchoscopes and laryngoscopes, Hsia said, adding it is also developing gastroenteroscopes. The coronavirus pandemic has sparked strong demand for disposable endoscopes, Hsia noted.
ISPs (image signal processors) are one of Altek's core technologies and a major source of business growth, Hsia indicated, adding that Altek is in talks about cooperation in ISP application with many smartphone vendors.
Altek has extended from production of digital cameras to AI chips, AI-based cameras and webcams, automotive cameras, 3D depth-sensing solutions and medical imaging solutions.
Altek posted consolidated revenues of NT$2.638 billion (US$89.4 million), gross margin of 25.25%, operating profit of NT$44.2 million, and net profit of NT$81.8 million for first-half 2020.
Of the revenues, 34% came from OEM production of cameras, optical components and lithium batteries, 33% from medical imaging solutions, 14% from automotive cameras, 10% from ODM production of digital cameras and 9% from ISPs.
Altek has reported consolidated revenues of NT$522.0 million for August, shrinking 2.50% on month and 3.05% on year, and those of NT$3.695 billion for January-August dropped 14.37% on year.
