Antrim house fire being treated as arson attack

A fire at a house in Antrim is being treated as a suspected arson attack.

Extensive damage was caused to the property at Queens Road.

No-one was in the house at the time and there have been no reports of any injuries, police said.

The fire was reported to officers at about 9.15pm last night.

A detective sergeant said: "Fire Service personnel were in attendance upon the arrival of police and extinguished the fire which caused extensive damage to the property.

"Initial enquiries have been conducted and at this stage we are treating the fire as deliberate.

"No-one was in the house at the time of the fire and there have been no reports of any injuries."

Police appealed for anyone with information about the blaze to phone 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
