Last week saw the departure of Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp, as well as assistant coach Shaun Bartlett, which leaves Amakhosi in need of someone to take the reigns at Naturena. Whoever accepts the job will be the team’s fourth coach in five trophyless years, and will be under immediate pressure to win silverware for the iconic Soweto giants, who lost the 2019/20 Absa Premiership title on the final day of the campaign.
One name that has been heavily linked with the job is Gavin Hunt, who is currently unemployed following the sale of Bidvest Wits, having opted against moving to Thohoyandou Stadium to coach TTM FC, who purchased The Students’ PSL status. Hunt has maintained that rumours aren’t true as of yet.
