Pointon starts at Norton Rose from PwC Legal’s financial advisory practice, where he was a partner. Prior to that, he was Asia-Pacific head of corporate at DLA Piper, and a senior corporate M&A partner at Gilbert+Tobin and King & Wood Mallesons.

“Bryan’s stellar reputation precedes him," Norton Rose Fulbright managing partner Alison Deitz told Street Talk.

"His career has been marked by a series of influential roles that helped strengthen client relationships and win significant new matters in Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region."

Pointon said his move came as Australia was set to embark on a period of "rising distressed M&A activity that will eventually give way to the kind of deal-making that comes with economic revival and growth".

"Over that time, clients will need trusted advisors...Norton Rose Fulbright is perfectly placed to assist companies and governments to manage risk and pursue new opportunities flowing from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Pointon's most recent deals include tending to Colinton Capital on setting up its funds and subsequent investments in AMA Group and Dimeo Cleaning Services, and Proterra Investment Partners on the sale of BFB to Canada's PSP.
