Health Ministry: Malaysia records 31 new Covid-19 cases, 28 local infections
by BY YISWAREE PALANSAMYKUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — Malaysia recorded 31 new Covid-19 cases today and registered no fatalities, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
The director-general of the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a statement said the new cases now bring the total number of active cases in the country to 9,946.
Dr Noor Hisham also announced that seven patients had recovered from Covid-19 today.
“It is to be noted that out of the 31 new cases reported, three cases are imported cases, who were infected abroad,” he said, adding that all three imported cases are from Indonesia, with two cases in Sabah involving Malaysians and one case in Kuala Lumpur involving an Indonesian citizen who entered Malaysia on August 31, 2020.
“He was admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital on the same day due to symptoms and tested positive on the second sampling on September 13, 2020.
“Out of 28 cases of local transmissions, 19 cases involve Malaysians, while nine cases involve non-citizens,” Dr Noor Hisham said.
He added that to date, 11 patients who tested positive for Covid-19 are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while five cases are in need of ventilators.
