Barcelona line-up a crazy transfer for Lionel Messi’s successor
by Atharva KhadilkarBarcelona are in the hunt of a player to replace Lionel Messi and have identified their primary target heading into the 2021 calendar year.
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has a contract at the club until June 2021. Given that there will be a change in the offices, it’s likely that the world’s greatest player will stay on for another few years. The next presidential candidates have signaled that a major revamp is on the cards, meaning the Argentina international will have phenomenal players beside him.
However, Messi is now 33 and the Blaugrana now need to start planning for life after their all-time top scorer. The Catalans have started lining up replacements for the mercurial footballer and shortlisted Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah as a candidate, Daily Star has reported. The Reds’ winger is one of the world’s best players.
Mohamed Salah got his Premier League campaign off to a flying start with a hat-trick against Leeds United on the opening day. The Egypt international is a world-class player and has now been performing consistently in England’s top-flight which is arguably world’s best and most competitive footballing league.
Liverpool will obviously be reluctant in selling their lethal forward, but the Catalans may be in a very good position to sign him next season, should Joan Laporta bring in a significant spending amount if he is elected president. With that said, it may take up to 200 million euros to pay for his services and Salah’s wage demands will be lofty as well.
Given that he has won two major trophies with Liverpool, in the shape of the Champions League and Premier League, Salah may be up for a new challenge and therefore, explore the possibility of switching to the Camp Nou. Moreover, the fact that Salah’s contract expires in 2023 could be a factor that may force Liverpool into selling for a reasonable price in 2021 before his fees lower.
Do you reckon Salah is the right man to replace the world’s greatest player?
