Apple Card 'launching soon outside US'

More than a year after its US launch, several more regions are set to get Apple Card this autumn and early in 2021

Apple Card is currently available in the US only, but Australia may be one of the first countries after the US where the credit card may be launched. This is according to the Apple news site MacRumors, which claims to have spoken to a source in the Australian banking world.

The source said the Australian launch of Apple Card is likely to take place at the same time as either iOS 14.1 or 14.2 later in the autumn, following the expected roll-out of iOS 14.0 in September or early October. The source could be delayed a little later than that, however, and come out alongside iOS 14.3; Apple often releases x.3 iOS updates around March.

Australians aren't the only ones getting their hands on Apple Card in the near future. MacRumors has also spotted references to GDPR legislation related to the Apple Card in the eighth beta version of iOS 14, a clear sign that Apple is also preparing a launch within the EU.
