Police dock driver for alleged murder

The Police on Monday arraigned a driver identified as Isiaka Adebayo before an Osun State Magistrate Court, Osogbo for allegedly using an unregistered car to kill a man.
The defendant was arraigned on seven counts bordering on reckless driving, driving without license, roadworthiness, and insurance certificate.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Jacob Akintunde, said, Adebayo on September 10, 2020, at about 1 PM at Aregbe Junction along, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo drove an unregistered Suzuki Carry Mini Dyna dangerously without a driver’s license thereby causing the death of one Mustapha Kabiru.
He noted that the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 18 of Cap 146 Vol II, Law of Osun State of Nigeria 2002, and Section 27 of RTA Cap 548 Laws of Nigeria.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The defense counsel, Mr. Lukman Adeleke, applied for the bail of the defendant on the most liberal term.
The presiding magistrates, Mr. Isola Omisade granted bail to the accused person with the sum of N500, 000 with one surety.
He adjourned the case to November 26, 2020.
