Five of our favourite Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes

by

NINE NINE!

With the news that Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be returning to our screens early next year, it's got us thinking of our favourite moments.

The antics of Captain Holt, Jake Peralta and the gang have entertained us for almost a decade.

And though the eighth season was delayed due to the sensitive issue of police brutality, we got the news last month of a return date.

So, having looked back over the entire run, here are our five best episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

#5 Coral Palms Pts 1,2,3 (Season 4, episode 1,2 and 3)

Holt and Peralta under witness protection in Coral Palms, Florida

The major plot twist at the end of season three saw Holt and Peralta go into witness protection having taken down Jimmy 'The Butcher' Figgis' crime ring, but, crucially, not Figgis himself.

'Greg and Larry' as they are known, are clearly depressed in Florida, so they hatch an escape plan.

Using the help of the Nine-Nine, the ending sequences are some of the best in the entire series.

Not to add the sideplot of the new captain at the precinct being a complete moron providing the comic relief.

#4 - Literally any of the Pontiac Bandit episodes.

Craig Robinson's portrayal of Doug Judy gets better and better each season.

The chemistry between the literal criminal and New York's 'best detective' is one of the best parts of the entire series.

Whenever he pops up, you should stay glued to the screen.

#3 - Halloween II (Season 2, Episode 4)

In reality, we could put any of the Halloween heists in here, but we've gone for the second edition.

Having successfully beaten the captain in the original heist, Peralta is trying to go two-for-two.

But he's thrown off by Holt with the help of a few unexpected accomplices.

#2 - Moo Moo (Season 4, Episode 16)

One of the things that has got B99 such critical acclaim is how it deals with serious, real-life issues.

When Terry is searching for his daughter's lost toy, he is almost arrested just for being black and on the street.

The decisions taken by Holt and the sarge, as well as the side plot of Jake and Amy having to explain to Terry's daughters what has happened, make this arguably the most poignant episode.

Seek out Terry's monologue.

#1 - The Box (Season 5, Episode 14)

When B99 is simple, it is at it's best.

Holt and Peralta, teaming up to try and take and force a perp into an admission.

And that's all we get. But that's all we need, as Samberg, Braugher and Sterling K Brown produce 20 minutes of quality television.

From Holt's anger at the perp's dentistry degree, to the return of Peralta's screaming guitar tactic, all the way to the end, where Boyle wishes the pair a good morning as they exit the interrogation room.

It was noice.
