Amazon to open two fulfilment centres in Canada

Mubasher: Amazon.com plans to inaugurate two new fulfilment centres in Ontario, Canada, to offer 2,500 new job opportunities, Reuters reported.

Like any other online retailer, Amazon uses fulfilment centres as giant warehouses to store many products, ship them, and handle returns.

This step is part of the e-commerce company's expansion to keep up with the considerable growth in online orders due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.

In April and May, Amazon hired 175,000 employees ranging from warehouse staff to delivery drivers to meet the increasing online demand.

It is noteworthy to mention that in late August, Amazon announced its plan to open its first Fresh grocery store in Los Angeles’ Woodland Hills neighbourhood as part of its objective to develop its offline portfolio.
