Man Utd transfer roundup: Gareth Bale eyed amid Sancho frustration, Reguilon update

by

Manchester United have been afforded an extra week of preparation ahead of the new Premier League season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and local rivals Manchester City were both given an extra week off by football’s governing bodies after their respective exploits in European competitions last month.

The Red Devils will begin their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace in Saturday’s evening game, which will kickstart a hectic schedule spanning right through until May next year.

Despite football action being on pause for United, the transfer rumour mill has continued to circulate around the club with several high-profile names linked with a move to Old Trafford.

United have until October 5 to do transfers with clubs around the world while an extended domestic-only deadline has been set for October 16. Here are the latest Manchester United transfer rumours.

Full-back Diogo Dalot reportedly wants to leave Old Trafford in this transfer window after growing frustrated over a lack of game time under Solskjaer.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move several times during this transfer window but the club is unwilling to let him leave, according to reports cited by the Express.

Transfer expert Duncan Castles said: “They do have to move players out and it's interesting to see what's happening with two guys who've dropped well down the pecking order in that very heavily-staffed defensive section of the Manchester United squad.

"One of them, Diogo Dalot, the young Portuguese under-21 international, has essentially been relegated to third-choice right-back in the planning Solskjaer is making for the coming season."

He added: "I can tell you that Dalot's not happy with his situation at United and is keen to leave, however he doesn't have permission from the club to leave.”

United ‘most interested’ club in for Reguilon

United are reportedly the club most interested in trying to sign highly-rated full-back Sergio Reguilon in this transfer window.

That is according to Spanish outlet AS, which claims the Red Devils have shown the most interest of any club to sound out a move for the Real Madrid left-back.

However, the report also outlines that Reguilon is currently waiting to see what happens at the Santiago Bernabeu before making his final decision.

Reguilon spent last season on loan with La Liga side Sevilla, who beat United on their way to lifting the Europa League title.

United are reportedly willing to turn their attentions to Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale amid growing frustration over the pursuit of Jadon Sancho.

That is according to the Daily Star, cited by the Express, which claims that Solskjaer regards the Wales international as a good alternative if a deal for Sancho fails to materialise.

Borussia Dortmund have so far been hard pushed on their £108million valuation of Sancho with United unwilling to pay such a high fee.

A move for Bale, who is believed to be keen on an escape from the Bernabeu, could be available for around £22m - although United would prefer a loan deal.
