Sena to Ban Republic TV In Maharashtra
Alleging a violation of journalistic ethics and guidelines and repeatedly defaming Chief Minister Uddav Thackerey in the recent coverage of certain incidents, Shiv Sena has asked the cable TV operators in Maharashtra to ban Republic TV Channel.

Mumbai: Alleging a violation of journalistic ethics and guidelines and repeatedly defaming Chief Minister Uddav Thackerey in the recent coverage of certain incidents, Shiv Sena has asked the cable TV operators in Maharashtra to ban Republic TV Channel. The Shiv Sena asked cable TV operators in Maharashtra to block the Republic channel citing the channel repeatedly using the non-respectful language for CM Uddhav Thackeray and home minister and holding parallel court in Arnab’s newsroom. Shiv Cable Sena which considers Sena leader Sanjay Raut as their guide, asked the cable operators Den, Hathway, Sevenstar, City Cable, GTPL in Maharashtra to ban the broadcasting of Republic Channel. The asked cable operators for an immediate ban on the Republic channel chaired by Arnab Goswami.
Condemning the move as an outrageous anti-democratic act, Goswami in a message to its viewers said Republic fight tooth and nail to defend its right to report. Lashing at the move to stop Republic TV, Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-Chief Arnaband said, Republic Media Network continues to fight for truth and justice”. Arnob called the Shiv Sena’s bid as a desperate, shocking, and brazen attempt has been made to block Republic TV thereby stopping our attempt to ”unearth truth’. Arnab Goswami addressing the viewers said, According to Arnob, earlier also Sena would launch such attack against the Republic TV channel. A reporter in the channel, Anju was put in jail for three days without according to Arnob Sena lead government has launched such an attack against Journalist ”for following a lead in the Sushant case investigation”. He alleged, ”Republic Media Network continues to fight for truth and justice in the Sushant death case, a shocking and brazen attempt has been made to block Republic TV and Republic Bharat’s right to report, as a party wing of the ruling Shiv Sena, has issued threats to cable networks in Maharashtra to this end”.
The media trial that has started after the death of Sushant Singh’s death, triggered widescale controversy. The Media particularly the national media has engaged in media trail as they traced people close to Sushant like his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborthy and started attacking them. Before Rhea has been arrested by the police. the media decided that she is the accused. The media has allegedly crossed the limit of the fourth estate and has undertaken the role of the judiciary often in the case of Sushant’s case. The decision to ban the Republic TV in Maharashtra came out amid this raising allegation against the Media trail. Even as Arnob strongly deplores Sena’s move, ”an attack and an attempt to plunder the fourth pillar of democracy. the Shiv Sena has taken ”dictatorial decision” and ”want to snatch our fundamental right to report. Under Article 19(1)A of the Constitution of India, Digging at the Congress -Sena bond in the state Arnob said, ”The people of India did not stand for Emergency in 1975, and they will not stand for what the Sonia Sena is doing right now”.
