Advaith Deepak tops JEE Main in both attempts from Kerala

by

Kozhikode: Advaith Deepak from Chevayur in Kozhikode has again come first in the state in the JEE Main, the national-level entrance examination for admission to engineering colleges.

He scored 99.994 percentile in the second examination held in September. In the first examination held in January, too, Advaith had stood first in Kerala.

JEE Main January 2020 was conducted as a computer-based test across 233 exam cities in India and 9 in abroad. The April attempt of JEE Main exam was conducted between September 1 to 6.

Advaith also holds the top spot in Kerala in the rank list published by taking into account the highest mark from both the examinations. At the all-India level, he is ranked 95.

Advaith, the son of Dr Rijil Deepak (of Baby Memorial Hospital in Kozhikode) and Dr Darshana Balakrishnan (of ESI Hospital in Chakkorathukulam), wants to study computer science at IIT Madras.

Advaith, who studied at Placid Vidya Vihar School, Chethipuzha, Changanassery, scored 491 marks out of 500 in the Plus Two CBSE examination.

He is now preparing for the JEE Advanced exam for admission to IITs that will be held on September 27.

The second JEE Main was scheduled to take place in April, but it was postponed to September due to COVID. Advaith said his preparations for the JEE Advanced helped him in the second JEE Main exam that was held from September 1-6.

Advaith said since he had to spend a lot of time at home due to COVID, he practised a lot of question papers, which helped him achieve success.

Before COVID, he would spend seven hours in studies on days when there was class and 15 hours where there was no class, he said. After the Plus Two exam, he paid attention to mock tests and he spent eight hours daily on studies, he said.

Advaith attributes his success to hard work and god’s blessings. Although he wrote the NEET, he said he had not prepared for it that well.

Even though he again secured the first rank in Kerala in JEE Main, there will be no celebrations until the results of the JEE Advanced examination that will be held on September 27 are out, Advaith’s father Dr Rijil said.

Advaith’s sister Avantika is a Class 7 student.
