Coritiba not giving up on loan move for forgotten Man City striker Marlos Moreno

Coritiba's director of football says the Brazilian side want to sign Manchester City striker Marlos Moreno on loan.

Manchester City striker Marlos Moreno could be set for his sixth loan move out of the club in four years, according to prospective new side Coritiba.

Winger Moreno, now 23, signed for City in 2016 for an initial £4.75m from Atletico Nacional after helping them to the Colombian league title with five goals in 27 games, earning a national team call-up and impressing in the Copa Libertadores.

The deal was due to rise to £8.23m if the move was a success and Moreno immediately headed out on loan to Deportivo la Coruna.

Moves to City's sister club Girona, Flamengo, Santos Laguna and Portimonense followed, but the Colombian has only scored four goals and played 89 times in his various loan spells.

Now, Coritiba Director of Football Paulo Pelaipe has expressed an interest in taking Moreno on loan as he enters the final season of his City contract.

Pelaipe told Banda B radio (via GloboEsporte): "We didn't give up. We have the international transfer window, which starts in October, and let's see if we can do it, because we believe it would help us a lot here in Coritiba."

However, Moreno's salary at City could prove a stumbling block for the Brazilian side - who recently sold youngster Yan Couto to City.

Pelaipe added Moreno has a high salary which will require "very big financial engineering" to complete the move. He also said Coritiba are not clear on what City's plans are for the player.
