11-year-old boy is killed in drive-by shooting in Troy
TROY, N.Y. (AP) - An 11-year-old boy was killed in a drive-by shooting in Troy, police said.
Police arrived late Sunday to find the child with a gunshot wound to the head on Old Sixth Avenue, the Times Union reported.
He was a student in the Lansingburgh school district, authorities said. His name was not released.
The child was walking with a group when a vehicle heading north opened fire, police said.
No expense will be spared in pursuit of the child’s killer, Mayor Patrick Madden said.
“Our hearts are with the family, friends, and classmates of the victim during this incredibly difficult time as it is with all those who have been the victims of gun violence, and all violence, this summer,” the mayor said in a written statement.
