A third-time collaboration between Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor could be on the cards. According to a recent report on an entertainment portal, the duo, who has worked together on films ABCD 2 (2016) and Street Dancer 3D (2020), might be seen together in Amar Kaushik’s next, which is tentatively titled Bhediya.
As per a Pinkvilla report, Bhediya will be produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, who also bankrolled Kaushik’s first two projects, Stree (2018) and Bala (2019). While names of several actresses for the female lead have been doing the rounds, the report says that Amar is clear about casting Shraddha.
A source in the report has been quoted as saying that Shraddha is one of the top contenders for Bhediya. The insider further said that the film was yet another horror comedy for the team after Stree and that Amar was looking for an actress who would suit as the main lead opposite Varun. It further informed that the filmmaker had given the actress a narration and that she had liked it. The makers are planning to go on floors in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh in some time.
Varun and Shraddha were last seen together in Remo D’Souza’s Street Dancer 3D, which had released on Republic Day this year. The dance film had received mixed reviews from film critics and the audience alike, which, in turn, majorly impacted its performance at the box office. In its lifetime run, the film had collected Rs 68.28 crore.
After Street Dancer 3D, Varun was supposed to arrive in cinemas with David Dhawan’s Coolie No. 1, co-starring Sara Ali Khan. The film was scheduled for a May 1 release. But owing to the coronavirus pandemic, it got postponed for an indefinite period of time. Rumours are rife that the makers have decided to release the film online.
