IPL 2020: Rashid Khan Is Far Ahead Of The Rest Of The Spinners In The Last Few Years Of The IPL- Aakash Chopra
by Ronak GandhiFormer Indian cricketer and Commentator Aakash Chopra has stated that Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan is way ahead of the rest of the spinners in the last few years in the IPL. Rashid Khan has been part of the IPL for 3 seasons now with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and has been performing exceptionally well. The 21-year-old has 55 scalps to his name at an outstanding economy rate of 6.55.
Rashid Khan will be once again seen in the IPL playing for SRH this season. The Indian Premier League will be played in the UAE this season, where pitches are slow and dry, favouring the spinners.
Aakash Chopra names the best spinners in IPL
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra was asked on Facebook who does he pick as the best spin bowler in the IPL. He named R Ashwin because he is still doing great in the IPL. The others spinners he named were Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Sunil Narine, and Rashid Khan. In the last five years, he feels the absolute best was Rashid Khan, who he tells is far ahead of anyone else.
“It is a very difficult question because whom should I choose, Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rashid Khan, Amit Mishra or Piyush Chawla. I am split to be honest. I find Ashwin very good because he is still going strong and has been for a long time. The other spinners who have done well for a number of years are Amit Mishra and Harbhajan Singh.” said Chopra.
“Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra will be my three choices but if you talk about the last five years, then Rashid Khan is the best because he has gone far ahead. Sunil Narine has also been very good although he has not been that effective for the last couple of years.”
Aakash Chopra names Rashid Khan as the best spinner in IPL’s last five years
Chopra ranked up the best spinners in IPL. The number three spot was given to DC’s Amit Mishra. At runners-up were Ashwin and Harbhajan. The number one spot was acquired by SRH’s Rashid Khan.
“So there are a lot of options but over twelve years of the IPL, I will say Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra. Mishra will be third in the list and there will be a toss-up between Harbhajan and Ashwin.”
“But if you talk about the last three to five years, Rashid Khan has been absolutely the best.”
Amit Mishra with 157 wickets, is the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL and highest among spin bowlers in the history of the IPL. He is followed by Harbhajan Singh, who has 150 wickets and R Ashwin, who has 125 scalps to his name.
