England vs Australia 2020, 2nd ODI: Toss Report
by CA EditorAustralia are one match away from winning their first ODI series against England since 2015. The last time both the teams met in an ODI bilateral series, England had whitewashed their Ashes rivals in the five-match series in 2018. But unlike the last time, Australia are far more formidable this time and they showed it in the first game.
The five-time world champions beat the reigning champions by 19 runs to take the lead in the three-match series. Australia were in a spot of bother at 123/5 before Mitchell Marsh (73) and Glenn Maxwell (77) forged a measured 126-run partnership to help their side put up 294 for 9.
Later, Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for just 26 runs of his ten overs while Adam Zampa picked up 4 for 55 as Australia restricted the hosts to 275 for 4 to cross the finishing line. The win also helped Australia start their campaign in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League with a win.
On the other hand, England have now won two and lost two in the Super League and will be desperate to bounce back in order to avoid a series defeat. With so much riding on the contest, one can expect another cracker of a game in Manchester.
