Son's tribute to 'much loved' grandfather killed in Wolsingham motorbike crash

Donald Young, 65, died after his Yamaha was caught in a collision with a Nissan Juke on the A689 near Wolsingham on Saturday, September 12, Durham Constabulary say.
Mr Young's son, whose name has not been issued by police, said in a statement on Monday: “It is with deepest regret that I announce the death of my father, Donald Young, who was involved in a tragic road traffic collision in Wolsingham on Saturday.
“He was a much loved father, grandfather, father in law, brother and uncle and will be sadly missed.
“I wish to thank everyone for their support and ask to be left so that we can grieve in peace.”
Locals also shared their tributes to the popular grandfather, who was known to friends as Duck, on Facebook.
One person said: "So so sad Donald was a lovely man. R.I.P. Duck."
Another added: "It's right in what they say: they only take the best - R.I.P Duck"
The collision took place at around 10.45am outside of Bradley Burn Cottage. The driver and passengers of the Nissan received "minor injuries", but Mr Young was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say they are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have been travelling along the road at the time of the incident with dash cam footage.
