Comtrend gearing up for DPU business
by Aaron Lee, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMESNetworking solution provider Comtrend is striving to expend its integrated DPU (distribution point unit) and CPE (customer premise equipment) solutions for FTTH applications to Europe and North America, having established a foothold for related products in the Asia-Pacific region, according to company sources.
The company is focusing on promoting its DPU devices optimized by reverse power feeding technology and G.fast technology, mainly to telecom and cable TV operators.
Comtrend's networking solutions allow telecom operators to place DPUs in household sewer systems and enable connection with the Internet for each household by connecting the DPUs with telephone lines.
The company expects its revenues to grow significantly in 2021 as it is currently in cooperation talks with two telecom operators in Europe and another two in the US, the sources revealed.
Comtrend posted revenues of NT$241.24 million (US$8.238 million) for August, up 58.96% on year. Year-to-date revenues came to NT$1.87 billion, increasing 16.23% from a year earlier.
