Edo election: Oshiomhole says car crash a natural accident

Adams Oshiomhole has lifted the lids on the road accident in which his convoy was involved, with the former national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) describing the incident as "a natural accident."
Oshiomhole, who is taking his pound of flesh from Godwin Obaseki following his irreconcilable political feud with the Edo governor, however, noted that some people truly wanted him dead.
The former Edo governor made this known in an interview with Vanguard, noting that the incident is due to the "usual recklessness of our drivers."

Legit.ng recalls that the fatal accident claimed lives of two policemen during the party's campaign on Tuesday, September 1, in Oluku Ovia Northeast local government area.
The accident, which happened around 1pm on Tuesday, September 1, also saw many chieftains of the party severely injured.
APC later described the incident as an "assassination attempt" on Oshiomhole who was rescued out of the scene of the incident unhurt.
"Without prejudice to police investigations, eyewitnesses account of the incident suggest, and we believe rightly too, that this was an assassination attempt, targeting Comrade Adams Oshiomhole," APC media campaign spokesperson John Mayaki said in a statement.
Speaking on the incident with just days to the Edo guber poll, Oshiomhole called for an investigation on the road crash.
The former APC national chairman expressed sadness over te death of the two back-up security operatives.
"To be honest with you, I think it is a natural accident. This is my personal view," Oshiomhol;e said.

“It is true there might be people who may wish me dead; there is no question about that. But all I want is that the police should do a thorough investigation. I think it is the usual recklessness of our drivers."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, condoled with Oshiomhole and Osagie Ize-Iyamu over the road accident which involved a backup security vehicle and top chieftains of the APC in the party’s campaign entourage.
In a statement, the governor commiserated with the families of the victims of the crash and prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.
