A pensioner has appeared in court accused of killing a baby girl in Plymouth 44 years ago.

Terence McArthur, aged 66, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is accused of the manslaughter of Tracey McArthur in Plymouth on or before June 1, 1976.

As Exeter Crown Court, Judge Peter Johnson set a provisional date for a seven-day trial on July 5, 2021 and bailed him on a tagged curfew to a supported housing project in Walker Street, Rochdale.

McArthur will not be asked to enter a plea until a psychiatric report has been prepared on him on behalf of the defence.
