Base included: PlayStation 5 console box contents and model numbers for both the Blu-ray model and Digital Edition PS5 appear online
by Daniel R DeakinNoted video-games industry analyst Daniel Ahmad has kindly shared some details about both of the PlayStation 5 consoles, namely their model numbers and box contents. He has been careful to point out that the information was sourced from a distributor in Hong Kong, so it’s likely that contents (and model number) will differ slightly depending on the region.
Unsurprisingly, apart from the PS5 console hardware itself, there is no difference between the box contents of the Blu-ray device (model number CFI-1015A) and the Digital Edition (CFI-1015B). Buyers of Sony's next-gen console will find a DualSense wireless controller, an HDMI cable, an AC power cord, a USB cable, and an instruction manual in their PS5 box.
Interestingly, the “825 GB SSD” is listed as part of the box contents, which seems a little odd as there is no mention of the other PS5 key components such as the AMD CPU or GPU. There’s also mention of the inclusion of the game Astro’s Playroom, which comes preinstalled onto the consoles.
Lastly, the box will also contain a base for the PS5. There was some speculation that Sony would sell a “vertical stand” as a separate accessory for its latest PlayStation console, so the presence of a base will come as a minor relief to those who were worried about additional initial expenditure.
Ahmad jokes about cropping the PS5 prices from the image, although a full version of the source picture has been found and it contains a placeholder for 9,999 Hong Kong dollars, which is equivalent to around US$1,290. This is clearly not the final price for either PlayStation 5 console, and it's possible Sony might share the actual price details soon.
