DC Gbl inaugurates cricket tournament

 Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal Sunday inaugurated Nawabbagh Premier League (NPL) cricket tournament launched by Sheikh- ul- Alam Sports Association Nawabagh.

The main theme of this tournament is "anti-drug the campaign, a COVI-19 response and solid waste management” in the area and society.

On the occasion, the DC interacted with players and urged upon them to vigorously participate in sports and athletic activities apart from pursuing their academics for their physical and mental health.

DC appreciated the organizers for organizing such tournaments which will help to keep the young Generation away from lethal mobile games, drugs, social evils and inculcate the spirit and love among the youth.

Meanwhile, DC assured the youth that the district administration will provide every possible support to boost sports activities in the district. He further said that sports activities shall be promoted during the B2V3 program. He said COVID-19 SoP shall be observed in letter and spirit while playing.

While highlighting the initiatives taken for the development of sports infra in the district, DC said that playgrounds will be developed in every panchayat of the district and said that the Nawabagh playground will be made one of the best playgrounds in the district so that more games could be organized at this venue.

While assuring the development of the ground, DC said that the boundary wall will be developed around the ground under MGNREGA programme and more facilities will be added to the ground besides widening of the approach road.

On the occasion, the inaugural match was played between Mudity City Hunks and Sultan Warriors while 64 teams participated in the tournament.

Among others, District officer Youth Service and Sports Ganderbal, President Cricket Association Ganderbal, SHO Shadipora, localhost,  other sports  personalities were present.
