Report: West Brom set to beat Leeds to Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, loan deal agreed
by Lee ConnorWest Brom look to have won the race ahead of Leeds United to sign Chelsea midfielder and England under-21 starlet, Conor Gallagher.
According to the Express and Star, The Baggies have beaten the likes of Leeds and Sheffield United to the signing of Gallagher, with the 20-year-old set to sign a loan deal at the Hawthorns.
Slaven Bilic has courted the midfielder all summer. However, it looked at the weekend like he could miss out on Gallagher, with Leeds mentioned as a possible destination on a permanent deal.
But Gallagher looks set to sign a new deal with Chelsea before completing his move to the Midlands. The Blues starlet enjoyed a fine campaign last time out in the Championship.
In spells withn both Charlton and then Swansea, Gallagher helped himself to six goals and 11 assists, helping the Swans into the playoffs following lockdown.
Frank Lampard is known to rate Gallagher highly. The youngster, then, will be hoping to impress his Chelsea boss while with the Baggies.

West Brom were put to the sword pretty comfortably at the weekend and the need for some new faces was evident.
In Gallagher, they’ll be getting a player with a point to prove at PL level and someone who can both score and create goals. Coupled with the captures of Diangana, Robinson, and Pereira, the Chelsea man should dovetail nicely.
Slaven Bilic will be delighted to have got his man, especially ahead of fellow promoted club, Leeds. With a bit of luck, Gallagher can impress and leave his mark with the Baggies.
