Apple iPhone 12 line-up likely to skip on 120Hz ProMotion displays

by

Upcoming iPhone 12 models could come with a boxy design and not support super-fast 120Hz displays. Here's all you need to know about them.

Highlights

It is no secret that Apple intends to launch a set of new phones in the coming weeks. Expected to be announced under the iPhone 12 name, the new line-up is expected to bring with itself as many as four new smartphones. Ahead of their launch, a new leak has now surfaced, revealing key details about the iPhone 12 Pro.

A leaked video has now been seen online which shows the back panel of the device, revealing the placement of the new LiDAR sensor. This information comes courtesy of known tipster, EverythingApplePro who has shared a short video that shows the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro's back panel, revealing the LiDAR sensor placement and flat sides.

The video shows of design elements of the phone which appear to be similar to what we had seen with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 that featured a more boxy shape. The video also shows a triple camera setup, which appears to be similar to what was seen on the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The video also shows some other design features of the iPhone 12 Pro, with the leak also revealing the SIM card tray has moved to the right side of the phone.

Apart from this, there has been another leak which reveals that the iPhone 12 models have already gone in for mass production, but with a key feature missing. As per Jon Prosser, the iPhone 12 series of phones will not bring with themselves 120Hz displays and are likely to stick to 60Hz panels, or at the best 90Hz refresh rate displays.

This news will come as a blow to a lot of fans who were hoping that Apple will fit their phones with super-fast 120Hz refresh rate panels this year. But it appears the wait for fast refresh rate panels on Apple's iPhones will have to be a little longer as the company looks likely to skip on these this year.

But before we get our hands on these iPhones, Apple will host a 'Time Flies' event later this week where it is expected to unveil the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Series 6, and new iPad models. We could also get some more information about the upcoming iPhones at the event. We at India Today will be following the proceedings at the event closely, so watch this space for all the latest updates.
