El Dorado Fire burns toward San Bernardino Peak, Angelus Oaks evacuated

FOREST FALLS – (INT) – Although containment of the El Dorado Fire has surpassed the half-way mark, it still poses a danger to Angelus Oaks where thousands of structures are threatened.

Fire fighters have built a contingency line between the fire and the Angelus Oaks community in case the fire makes a run for it. Remaining residents are being asked to evacuate. The fire is burning actively upslope towards San Bernardino Peak.

Flames are also active in Mountain Home Creek. There is continued structure protection in Forest Falls.

The Forest Service is asking residents of Mountain Home Village to stay away from their homes a while longer.

Since the fire began September 5th, it has covered 17,598 acres.

It was accidentally started by a pyrotechnic device at a gender reveal party near Yucaipa.

Sixteen homes and outbuildings have been damaged or destroyed.
