Fans are all saying the same thing about Seamus Coleman as he stars in Everton win
The Ireland captain impressed in the 1-0 win, while his Boys in Green teammate made his Spurs debut
by Gavin QuinnFans were blown away by a brilliant Seamus Coleman this evening as Everton dominated Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League opener.
The Ireland captain impressed at right-back in the 1-0 win in North London, while his Boys in Green teammate Matt Doherty made his Spurs debut.
While Doherty was preferred by new boss Stephen Kenny in Ireland's opening Nations League games earlier this month, it's Coleman that impressed fans today.
The headlines will ensure goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin and new signings Allan and James Rodríguez take the plaudits, but the Donegal defender was the people's choice for Man of the Match.
After the game, one fan said: "New signings were all quality but how good was Seamus Coleman?"
Another added: "Seamus Coleman, amazing. Looked like the player who took the Premier League by storm seasons ago, prior to the big injury. Stuck to Son like glue, rarely allowing him time and space".
Other fans compared the two right-backs, with the 31-year-old's performance outshining that of former Wolves man Doherty.
One fan asked: "How is Seamus Coleman not in Irelands first 11?"
Another said: "I hope to God Stephen Kenny is watching this game! No disrespect to Doherty but Seamus Coleman has been fantastic today".
