Report: Aston Villa agree Bertrand Traore fee; medical set for next week

Aston Villa are closing in on another summer signing, with Sky Sports reporting that they have agreed a fee for Bertrand Traore.

The Villans have been incredibly busy in the market in more recent times. Matty Cash and Ollie Watkins have both joined. And Sky Sports reports that Emiliano Martinez is set to be announced as a Villa player as a move from Arsenal nears completion.

But Martinez may have a new teammate swiftly following him through the Villa Park door.

According to Sky Sports, Villa have agreed a £17 million fee for Traore. And it is suggested that the Lyon star is set to undergo a medical in the next few days.

Traore looks to have the potential to be an inspired signing for Dean Smith’s side. Admittedly, he is yet to play for Lyon in the early stages of the new campaign.

Nevertheless, he scored four goals and provided five assists in all competitions last season. He predominantly played on the right wing, but he is also capable of playing up front or in a slightly deeper role.

And at 25, Villa appear to be closing in on signing a player approaching what should be his peak years.

Smith’s men took a little while to get going this summer. But with two players now through the door, and two more seemingly on their way, the fans now have much more reason for optimism.
