Neymar accuses Marseille player of racism after ugly brawl in defeat

Neymar has accused a Marseille player of racism after a fiery Le Classique last night.

Five red cards, along with 14 yellows, were flashed during the game, which ended in an ugly brawl.

The Brazilian was one of those dismissed, but he has claimed that he had good reason to.

“Look at the racism. That’s why I hit him,” he said to camera as he was leaving the pitch.

He followed that up with a thread of tweets.

“The only regret I have is not hitting this idiot in the face,” the world's most expensive player said.

He was dismissed after a VAR review. It came four minutes after his teammates, Lavyin Kurzawa and Leandro Paredes, and OM's Dario Benedetto and Jordan Amavi were given their marching orders.

“It’s easy for VAR to show my ‘aggression. Now I want to see the image of the racist who called me a ‘MONKEY MOTHERF**KER. I’d really like that!” Neymar tweeted in Portuguese.

Florian Thauvin’s close-range volley on 31 minutes earned Marseille their first win over PSG in almost a decade.

''Neymar told me it was a racist insult, but I didn’t hear anything on the pitch”, PSG coach Thomas Tuchel said.

“There is no place for racism in football but I don’t think that was the case,” Marseille coach Andre Villas-Boas said later on.

“We’ll have to look at it.”

According to Telefoot, Gonzalez replied “What racism?” when he was asked about the incident.

He also tweeted a picture of himself surrounded by multi-racial teammates.

“There’s no place for racism,” the Spaniard wrote, adding:

“Sometimes you have to learn to lose and take it on the field.”
